Deux Helix, FNGRLCKN + SOx

I love it when a tracks name tells you all you need to know about the song. Case in point Deux Helix's latest thrasher Psychosis.

FNGRLCKN drops a sweet new edit of the oftened remixed Mind Demension by Tiga but the piano makes this stand out above most.

I still haven't been able to fully get into Passion Pit's feel good geeky sound but I enjoyed this uplifting remix from unkown SOx of their indie hit Little Secrets. ps. SOx if you have a page I could link to you please let me know dude!

Dave Nada - Live at FBI 20-11-2008

Dave Nada is without a doubt one of America's premier DJ's, an upcoming producer and one half of the dynamic duo known as Nadastrom. It is fair to say his style is fairly hard and he is one of the major torch bearers of the hard Bmore club sound. So you will know what to expect when you check this 30 minutes mix out he did for FBi radio while in Australia last year. Luckily for us Dave will be touring with the We Love Sounds festival, no word yet on any sideshows but keep your eyes peeled on his MySpace for any news

Deux Helix

I often get a lot of tracks from new producers. Most don't stack up but once in a while you stumble on an Algeronics and Luny P. I have to say hearing Deux Helix's Dimension IX gave me a buzz I haven't yet had from a new artist.  Daft Punk fans will see the influence of the duo on the track which is the highlight of what Deux Helix has done so far. The American duo bring a psychadelic mood over grinding electro beats which have me excited for future offerings. Watch this space.

Booka Shade - JJJ Mix Up 08-11-2008

Wikipedia claims that Booka Shade are German electrohouse duo, well I don't agree with that but they certainly are German and their melodic beats have that German tech touch. I would dscribe their style as an anthemic club banger crossed over with a melancholy melodies dressed in a dark and brooding suit. This set which features alot of acts from their Get Physical label is the perfect come down mix after a big night out, which I think I've said about a lot of mixes on the blog!

Sweat It Out!

Its Monday night in Sydney and as I'm recovering from a big weekend I'm thinking about how crazy the past few months have been. When I started my little blog I just wanted to share all the cool mixes I'd collect out the blog world. But I've been lucky and my little side project has gotten me in touch with lots of cool peeps. None cooler than the guys from Sweat It Out, who are well just in my opinion the finest and coolest dance music label in the world. After some initial side glances and flirting we have consumated our affair and our now joined at the proverbial hip.

In english that means I have been promoting the labels new releases and doing what I can on the marketing end which is like the coolest gig in the world! Anyways that is just an update on why new posts and mixes have been so sparse but I promise it will be fixed starting tomorrow with a Booka Shade set. In the meanwhile check out some of the dope Sweat It Out stuff already out on Beatport.

Some of the future releases in store are Ajax epic first ep, new Act Yo Age ep plus their mix CD, debut ep from hot new diskohause wizkid DCUP, some crazy beats from the mysterious Yolanda Be Cool aka next big thing and much more! Plus we will have t-shirts, crazy parties and even sweatitout.tv soon! Fun times. Ok time to for some rest!

Cousin Cole - Live at FBI 10-10-2008

I'm back!!! This time with the remix genious known as Cousin Cole. Now this is your Cousin Cole who remixed Soulja Boy and everyone else and got the party started. This is mix showcases another, more Tambourine Dream, side of Cole. Still nice and cruisy none the less.

PS. Sorry about lack of updates. I've got hoTT mixes from Dave Nada, Mr Oizo and Miami Horror coming up very soon! Oh also a post as to why I've been so lazy with the blog lately : )

Kings of Leon

Saw Kings of Leon last night for the fourth (or was that fifth?). The first time was in 02/03 when the boys supported The Strokes. I think I was one of the very few that day who knew the band and heard any of the songs. From that first performance I've loved the boys since and its great to see them filling up the big stadiums. I view their recent album as a natural progression and not as them selling out! Still it was great hearing classics such as Wasted Time, California Waiting and Molly's Chamber again. Only downside was the mainstream/tween crowd who only knew Sex on Fire and no other songs. Who goes to a concert to hear one song??

Pretty much the only KoL remix I've liked is the Kenna and Chad Hugo remix of My Party. Sometimes less is more...

Sorry its only 128!

Martin Solveig - Live at Parklife 2008

Another fun set from last year's Parklife festival, this time from Martin Solveig. I've got admit I am  a massive fan of his C'es La Vie song. Did anyone else think the vocals on the track sound like they come from Michael Jackson? Wouldn't be a bad sound for Wacko Jacko to come back with. Actually Martin drops a Jacko sample near the start of his set...

More LunyP

You will remmber my previous post about LunyP - an up and coming DJ/remixer in the Sydney scene. The last post contained a lot of his Baltimore remixes and some cool mash ups. This time we have a couple of really cool mashps with my fave being Muscles vs Vanilla Ice (yes you heard right) and a miami bass style remix which shows that Luny isn't a one trick pony. Look for more mixes in the near future.  Can anyone say prolific much?

Diplo - Live at FBI Mix 23-09-08 + Donovan

Diplo is one my favourite DJ's and one of the coolest guys in the world. He is a trend sender no doubt. M.I.A., Santigold, baile funk etc.... All your favourite music began with Diplo! Oh and he is also an obsessed twitterer! This is a short 30 min mix he did at Sydney radio station FBi late last year which crosses from baile funk to electro to 90s house to hip hop! Yeah baby!

Plus here is a lovely remix by Dinamics for Donovan disco anthem Breakin which I love, Dinamics give the song a dark disco edge. Merci Donovan - hope to see you back in Oz soon! Below is a short interview about the boys.

Algeronics

It scary how good some of the upcoming DJ's and remixers are these days. Case in point Algeronics, a 17 year old from sunny California has sent over two absolute bangers that have had me dancing around the room like a 12 year old girl listening to her first Backstreet Boys record. Guess the vocal samples on each track they shouldn't be too hard to spot! For latest remix and news check out Algeronics own blog.

Chemical Brothers - Live at Big Day Out 2000

Happy New Year peeps! To start off 2009 I have dug into my crates and pulled up an amazing live Chemical Brothers performance from the 2000 Big Day Out festival.
